API Keys

An API key is a unique identifier that authenticates requests associated with your project for usage. You must have at least one API key associated with your project to begin development.

Once inside the Plastiq Connect Partner Portal, the partner may click on "API Keys" in the navigation bar to manage API Keys. Partners can generate, rotate, and delete API Keys.

A generated API Key will be enabled for authentication immediately. Conversely, a deleted API Key will be disabled for authentication immediately.

In the instance that an API Key is rotated, the original API Key is set to expire in 12 hours (becoming no longer usable), and a new API Key is immediately generated (immediately usable). This workflow is enabled to let partners seamlessly update their systems with new authentication credentials while maintaining a seamless experience for a partner's end-users.

A maximum of 2 API Keys can be active at the same time.

Key Expiration

Once an API Key is generated, it is valid for one year. Please be sure to rotate your key at least once a year so that you don't risk any disruptions for your customers.
